Digital Heating Room: New Techem Service optimises heating operations with the help of Artificial Intelligence

  • AI-based analysis reveals optimization potential for heating systems
  • Average of 15 percent lower energy consumption and CO2 emissions
  • Low-investment solution reduces operating and consumption costs

Eschborn, September 20, 2023 – Techem, one of the leading service partners for energy-efficient buildings, is expanding its product & solution portfolio for the real estate industry to include the Digital Heating Room. Utilizing digital sensors, this low-investment solution enables comprehensive monitoring and optimization of heating systems through Artificial Intelligence (AI) – applicable to every heating system and energy source. This not only fosters transparency regarding the correct system settings but also unveils potential savings. Continuous monitoring allows for early detection and quicker repair of malfunctions, thereby saving costs and resources. Customers can centrally access analysis results and specific recommendations for action through a web-based portal. The service is available immediately for all heating systems and energy sources.

Digital twin provides individual recommendations for action

The foundation of the new Techem service lies in AI-supported remote monitoring and analysis. This involves installing temperature sensors on the heating system, an ambient temperature sensor on the outside wall, and an electricity-based gateway. The gateway collects temperature and meter data from the heating system every minute and then transmits it to the cloud. In this way, in combination with other data, property-specific models can be trained and mapped in a digital twin of the heating system. With the help of AI, a variety of different analyses can be carried out, from which recommendations for action can be derived. In addition, the self-learning technology contributes to a continuous optimisation of the analysis procedures.

"The adjustment of heating systems is complex. For instance, only one in five heating systems in Germany are optimally set and dimensioned, and 80 percent even run continuously in summer. Yet their optimized operation is vital to reducing energy consumption, emissions and ultimately costs in the building," says Matthias Hartmann, CEO of Techem. "With the Digital Heating Room, we provide the housing industry with valuable insights, reduce complexity and reveal optimization potential - all through a low-investment solution that can save an average of 15 percent energy and avoid emissions. We are thus making a decisive contribution to a digitized, CO2-neutral building sector."

Measurable benefits for the housing industry

For landlords and residents, the Digital Heating Room brings light into the darkness: Thanks to the continuous digital recording of the operating status, malfunctions in the heating system are detected and automatically reported within a short time. This not only reduces the administrative effort for tenants, but also the operating costs. Thanks to concrete recommendations for action, it is also easier to optimize current systems. If the heating system works more efficiently, energy consumption and emissions can also be reduced, which in turn can have a positive effect on the energy efficiency class of the property. In addition, a correctly adjusted system also reduces the risk of legionella infestation - an advantage for healthy living.
